Three ministers talked about staying alive and their "re-creation" and described their hobbies and personal passions to the Convocation of Ministries held prior to the 25th Synod of the Uniting Church in Queensland.
Rev Don McKay showed photographs of his prized restored red Bulldog and Massey Harris tractor but described his collection of four vehicles as much less than his cousin’s, who owns seven.
Rev Robyn Kidd shared how the cardiac unit at her hospital helped her develop an exercise and diet plan describing herself as amazed at the buzz she gets from exercise.
"I am more motivated, have tons of energy and can take on anything. When it comes to weight loss it doesn’t have to be much to make a difference," she said.
Rev Dennis Robinson described himself as a marathon runner who after reading an article decided he could build a yacht and found it took him eight years to complete the hull before the half complete boat was then taken from Brisbane to North Queensland.
"Whenever you go to a new placement make sure the manse is strong ’cause you never know when you’ll need to put a crane on it," said Mr Robinson as he described the building process.
After 19 years the yacht was launched and, to Mr Robinson’s his amazement and pleasure, it went straight into the water and floated perfectly.
