Hall helps church reach community

CUTTING the ribbon of the Iona West Uniting Church Hall was a day that had been long awaited by most church goers.

The hall keys were handed over yesterday in a special ceremony attended by 120 people; the new hall had been in the process of construction for six years.

Iona West Uniting Church Reverend Bruce Johnson said the $630,000 hall, which is joined to the Iona West Uniting Church on Brook Street by a walk way, would be put to good use.

“The hall has been very much a welcomed asset to our church,” Rev Johnson said.

“I feel it will be really utilised by both the church and the community. A project we have in the pipeline is to hold parent and children meetings during the week.

“The hall will also be available for hire for outside groups who wish to use it. It helps us reach out to the community. The hall contains space for the minister’s office.”
