The Lockyer community's fundraising efforts have aided iconic not-for-profit organisation Blue Care's efforts to develop a highly-anticipated new centre at 8 Dawson Drive, Gatton.

Construction of the $3.3 million new Blue Care Lockyer Community Care will begin next week and Service Manager Elaine Horrocks said she and the team couldn't be happier as they'd outgrown their leased space at 1 North Street where they've been since 1982.

"Our dreams for a new facility for our community care and centre-based respite will be fulfilled this year and I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to making this happen," Mrs Horrocks said.

"Without the ongoing support from so many people and organisations in the community, including the Lockyer Valley Regional Council, local media and generous bequests, we would not be able to provide the quantity and range of services that we do.

"I'd also like to thank the Queensland Department of Communities and Blue Care for their enormous contribution to funding this new development, and last and by far not least, the Blue Care Auxiliary and Committee and the team of wonderful volunteers and staff who have worked so hard for this."

Blue Care Executive Director Robyn Batten said the new building was expected to open about September.

"This new centre will not only offer our staff a modern work environment, it will offer a comfortable, secure environment for clients who visit the centre for socialisation activities and respite," she said.

"It is a privilege to assist the community with tailor made services designed to promote people's independence and quality of life, and clients and their families are so supportive of us.

"It's a fitting year for Blue Care to have this new facility, as the organisation celebrates its 60th year of making a difference to communities across Queensland and northern New South Wales."
