A Farmers Year – Daily Truth to Change Your Life

Having enjoyed Faith Like Potatoes, Buchan’s first book, I impulsively expected this would be a sequel. In a way it is, although it’s actually a book of daily devotional readings.

From the moment I read the first entry – that for New Year’s Day – I was ‘hooked’. The selected verse, appropriately, is from Hebrews 12:1, about running with endurance the race that is set before us.

I went on to read the entries for birthdates of our family, and eventually my own, which was like a spiritual blood transfusion.

Indeed, each daily entry would be an encouraging shot in the arm for even the busiest person. Angus’s easy to read, ‘matey’ style is again evident.

Not afraid to share his own mistakes, problems, highs and lows, he tells brief stories, uses quotes, and always challenges and encourages.

It’s easy to believe God could have been looking over his shoulder as he compiled the readings.

A Farmers Year – Daily Truth to Change Your Life is not a book for your Church library – or to lend a friend. Either way, you’d probably never get it back)

But as a gift it would be a lasting treasure, and you’d be silently thanked and remembered every day by the recipient.
