Spirit and Song 2 provides a range of worship songs showing lyrics, melodies and some guitar arrangements; some songs also have additional harmonies. There is a keyboard accompaniment version also available separately.
Whilst this song book is described as containing “contemporary Catholic music”, it contains a range of songs useful in other denominations, well arranged into sections such as Communion songs and praise and worship songs, which can make song selection for a service much easier.
Scattered throughout the book are hints on services and prayers. While the service outlines and prayers are designed for the Catholic denomination, elements could easily be adapted to suit other denominations.
The book includes a wide variety of songs, which are similar to songs about midway through the Praise and Worship series. The variety of selection would be similar to the Source music books. There is some repetition of songs from the Source, and Praise and Worship series, with songs such as Above All and Shout to the Lord; however on the whole it provides a varied selection of songs.
There are comprehensive indexes, including scriptural based, topical, first line, common titles and liturgical indexes.
Overall, this appears to be a useful song book containing over 200 songs. Other complementing resources available include the keyboard edition, CDs and the words only version.
