THE National Day of Thanksgiving will be held on Saturday 26 May this year.

The Day is an opportunity for churches and Christian organisations across Australia to connect with people in their local
communities who don’t normally go to church.

In 2012 the National Day of Thanksgiving will be thanking and honouring those in local government, from elected
Councillors, office management and personnel, as well as outdoor staff and those contracted by councils to do things such as rubbish collection, and road maintenance.

A second category will be the many Chaplains that serve our communities in such places as schools, prisons, hospitals, the business world and through sporting or community organisations.

National Day of Thanksgiving 2012 National Coordinator, Brian Pickering, said the event will reach communities all over Australia.

“Churches in some 1600 communities across the nation will celebrate the day with many making it the centrepoint of their outreach ministry to their community,” he said.
