A new kind of pancake day

Pancake Day is alive and well and living in the spiritual heart of Brisbane, Wesley Mission Brisbane’s Albert Street Uniting Church, this February 16 from 7am to 10am.

Armed with barbeques, a marquee, and a dose of goodwill and heart, volunteers from the Albert Street Church congregation will be selling pancakes to passersby on the corner of Ann and Albert Streets as they have for years.

Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake day is so called because pancakes use such products as eggs, sugar and butter, whose consumption was traditionally restricted during the fasting associated with Lent. It is also called Fat Tuesday, Fastnacht day, Malasada Day, Bursting Day and Pączki Day, depending on where in the world you are from.

Everyone is invited and welcome to come and share pancakes, smiles and goodwill for Pancake day in the heart of the city.
