OVER 60 young people from the Student Life Mission came to the Gold Coast in November to witness to Schoolies.

The Burleigh Heads Uniting Church opened its doors to the students for the 10 days they were on the Gold Coast, giving them a place to meet, worship, train and coordinate their mission.

The young people came from various universities in Queensland and New Zealand as part of a Christian organization on university campuses called Student Life.

Their mission is to know Christ and make Him known on campus.

A spokesperson for the students explained to Journey, " The students of today are the leaders of tomorrow so we influence the future by sharing Christ with students and turning them into Christ centred people."

He went onto say, " We took the opportunity to spend time together at Burleigh Heads so that we could trained to share and defend our faith and be better equipped for our future ministry, Schoolies was an ideal opportunity to share the gospel and care for these young school leavers.

During the day we trained with the help of the churches minister, Colin Batt and each evening we visited Surfers Paradise and walked and talked with the young people.

We were then able to follow up with anyone who decided to give their life to Christ."

Colin told Journey that it was a privilege to have the young students use the church facilities for the week and to have them participate in the two Sunday services.

Some of them gave testimony as to how Christ had turned their lives around and it was encouraging to see so many young people willing to go out into the community and tell others about what Christ can do for them.
