Walk for faith – an ecumenical island event

Bribie Island Good Friday waterfront walk of faith

Members of Christian Churches on Bribie Island (Uniting, Baptist, Catholic, Church of Christ, Assembly of God and Christian Outreach Centre together with the Victory Church from nearby Ningi) along with friends and visitors joined together in a Walk of Faith on Good Friday morning.

The event was organised by the Bribie Island Uniting Church.

Bribie Island Church Council Secretary Maureen Peart said about 60 – 70 people walked –– along the waterfront, stopping at a number of places along the way to hear readings from the Scriptures and to reflect on these.

“A simple wooden cross, carried by a member of the Victory Church congregation, led the procession,” Mrs Peart said.

Several elderly folk in their “gofers” joined the parade.

“By the time the final stop at the sound shell in Brennan Park was reached the number of people had swelled to well over 100 who listened to the final reading and the singing of several well-known and well-loved hymns by the Uniting Church choir.”
