AFTER a combined 90 years of service to the Uniting Church Wesley Indoor Bowls Club, June Lawrence and Lorna Shaddock have been presented with life memberships.
Club president Marg Wilkie said only four life memberships had been handed out in the 58 years since the club was formed.
“The life memberships are more significant because of the small number awarded; they have been earnt for long and meritorious service.
“June and Lorna are always there to play each Wednesday,” Wilkie said.
Both first played at the Methodist Indoor Bowls Club in a hall next to the Methodist Church in Guy Street (where the Big W store now stands) but when the church was relocated as a chapel to The Scots PGC College, the indoor bowlers moved to the Williams Hall where they still play today.
