NCYC 2007 launches triple-decker of top competitions

Ever been caught day dreaming what it would be like to be a Hollywood film maker, prize-winning photographer or international rock star? Well with a little help from one of the NCYC 2007 creative competitions your day dreams could become reality!

Organisers of the National Christian Youth Convention (NCYC) 2007 believe all young people can make a difference. With this in mind they have launched three cool new competitions this month: NCYC 2007 Short Film Festival, I Spy the Agent Competition and the NCYC 2007 Battle of the Bands.

To start delegates thinking about the convention theme, Agents of Change, the NCYC Short Film Festival is open to young people who are NCYC delegates. Entrants can submit work (of 3-5 mins in length) in one of three categories: Agents of Change, Change and Hope and Risking the Way of Jesus. “Films are a great way of getting your voice heard; expressing faith and opinions in ways that are funny, dramatic and inspiring.” says Russell Brown, director of Mintox Media, Perth.

I Spy the Agent Competition opens up endless opportunities for delegates to snapshot the official NCYC logo or ‘Agent of Change’ in the community. Delegates are encouraged to grab a camera, think outside the square, and send their pics into the office to be displayed on the NCYC website. The most creative entry will receive a fantastic prize during convention week.

Christian youth certainly know how to rock and the NCYC organisers are ready to rock with them by launching the NCYC 2007 Battle of the Bands featured in the Nitelife program. ‘If you think you can rock a crowd of 1500 young people, have a go,’ says Helen Haslam, Nitelife Team Leader. Helen also says the competition offers young people a creative way of expressing the convention theme, ‘Agents of Change.’ Bands will need to submit a sample of their music with all entrants expected to perform at least one original song during a 15 minute set during the week.

The National Christian Youth Convention will be held in Perth from January 3 -9 2007. NCYC is open to delegates aged betweenn16 and 30 with 1500 young people expected to attend.
