The Transit Lounge wins ARPA award

The Transit Lounge has been awarded ‘Best Electronic Publication’ at the Australasian Religious Press Association (ARPA) annual Awards for Excellence.

Begun some two and half years ago as a joint venture of the National Assembly and the West Australian Synod, this is the first time the e-zine has won such an award.

Judges praised The Transit Lounge as “a high quality publication with a good mix of articles that respond to issues of both serious news and popular culture”.

Editors, Alison Atkinson-Phillips and Penelope Monger, said they were thrilled with the achievement. “The Transit Lounge has been growing steadily in terms of readership during the past two years,” said Alison. “This award affirms its relevance to the church and to the wider community.”

The Transit Lounge team also congratulated Insights, the publication of the Synod of NSW/ACT, which took out gold awards for Best Website and Best Original Artwork.

Held on 12 September, the ARPA Awards attracted entries from across Australia and New Zealand, from many different denominations.
