A video telling the stories of two brothers, Scott and Daniel and their struggle to live independently has recently been made by UnitingCare Queensland.
Scott and Daniel live with Muscular Dystrophy and have experienced living in a group home where they had no choice about who they lived with, the staff that cared for them or the life they lived day to day. The video depicts how, with the help and support provided by UnitingCare Community and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, they have found their own home where they take charge of all aspects of their lives.
Recent news is that they have negotiated recurrent funding which assures their future.
The video was used to help their case and it is hoped, will help show what will be possible with the new DisabilityCare for others in similar circumstances.
