Despite the rain, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital staff turned out in great numbers to learn more about the culture and histories of our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Time to Shake a Leg event on Tuesday 28 May.

The event was held to help raise awareness of our journey with the Reconciliation Action Plan.

“I would like to thank all the staff who turned out to support this event and they helped show that everyone at St Andrew’s is serious about taking action to build a better relationship between all Australians” said Manager of St Andrew’s Pastoral Care Services, Theo Masselos.

“This music, dances and stories shared by all and particularly the Elders, were sobering, moving and gracious and I think everyone who attended will feel better connected and more knowledgeable of our shared history.”

The Time to Shake a Leg event was held during National Reconciliation Week, 27 May to 3 June.

Visit the UnitingCare Queensland website under Reconciliation Action Plan for more information and download a copy of the plan.
