Our 30-year journey

A few of our favourite covers: Journey’s first edition (February 1986); Christmas cover (December 2006); and our most recent award-winning cover (April 2013).

This edition marks 30 years of Journey magazine. Mardi Lumsden explores the past, present and future of church communications. Leafing through newsprint is a fast-disappearing luxury. The dusty 30-year-old pages of the Journey archives are filled with stories of the church at work in the world, calling out injustice and celebrating global, national and local milestones. This is a record ...

Letters September 2015

Letters to the editor graphic by Uniting Communications.

Gratitude to Francis Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si is not expensive in book form. I have read it carefully. The pope is in a unique position to address people worldwide on the challenges facing the human family and our “common home”. As he says, it concerns us all. Each of us can do something; together we can do more. Leaders ...

Letters August 2015

Letters to the editor graphic by Uniting Communications.

Women and men should be in equal partnership I read in the July Journey about the proposal for the Uniting Church Adult Fellowship to encourage “participation from all cultural groups in women’s fellowships” (“Multicultural women’s fellowships proposed”, page 19). I certainly agree that as a church we should be actively encouraging the involvement of all cultural groups in our churches ...

Letters June 2015

Why change? I agree with all the letters in the May issue of Journey. There is nothing to talk about, God’s word is clear. He made Eve. No I am not narrow-minded, these gay people have been around since the year dot but it was always kept quiet. Why should we change ways for them? All the publicity they get ...

Letters May 2015

Letters to the editor graphic by Uniting Communications.

The following three letters are in regard to the article “Uniting Church marches with pride”, April 2015, page 10. Don’t talk about it We wish to lodge a complaint about the article in Journey about Uniting Church members marching in the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade, stating they were also going to do it again in 2016. We truly ...

Letters April 2015

Letters to the editor graphic by Uniting Communications.

God is like an onion I really enjoyed the last edition of Journey, especially the profile of Dr Joel Corney (“A quantum leap of faith” March 2015). I found it reassuring that a quantum physicist discussed the uncertainty that is the reality of life on planet Earth. Even though God is a certainty, there are plenty of things that are ...

April Journey now available

April Journey masthead

The April 2015 edition of Journey is now available to read and download. Lest we forget This month marks 100 years since the landing at Gallipoli; a critical moment in Australia and New Zealand’s history that is burned into the national psyche of both countries. Dawn services will take place around the world, paying tribute to the sacrifice made by those a ...

Letters March 2015

Letters to the editor graphic by Uniting Communications.

Thanks for the hard truth I want to commend Journey and particularly Rohan for the article about young adults in the February edition of Journey. I thought it had some really good points and feeds into a critical conversation we have to have in the church around how to nurture young adults in their faith and how to build young ...

Letters December 2014

Rainbow colour post-it notes.

Not diversity, but unity in Christ It looks as if we should change the title of our church. Instead of the Uniting Church, it should be the Diversity Church according to what the Journey editor has written in November Journey. That may be a way for journalists to go, but those who had the vision of unity, based on the ...
